Box Top Committee

THE FALL BOX TOPS CONTEST IS STARTING!

It’s time to send in all those General Mills box tops that you’ve saved since last winter. TRES PTA earned over $3,000 last year from this program. The money is used for programs, equipment, etc. for our children. Please send in your trimmed non-expired box tops to your teacher now thru OCT 24. The top class in each grade will win a prize, and the top class overall will win an ice cream sundae party! Watch the bulletin board outside the office for weekly updates on which class is in the lead.

A lot of us enjoy shopping, so it’s a great way to get the items you need and support the TRES PTA at the same time. There are various ways to earn for our school throughout the year:

    - Shop at Safeway and purchase products marked with the yellow “Back to School” bus labels between Aug. 10th and Sept. 13th. Safeway will donate 10% of the purchase price to our school. Please visit escrip.com to verify your school designation or to register your card for the first time and for more details. You MUST have your actual club card number; phone numbers will not work! If you need to obtain your club card number or to change your school designation, please call Safeway Customer Service at 1-877-723-3929. Starting Sept. 19th, redemption codes will print out on your Safeway receipts if your card is not designated for a particular school. Please send these codes in to the Box Tops committee by Oct. 7.
    - Shop at Safeway year-round to earn 1% of your entire purchase price each month. Again, your club card must be registered with eScrip.
    - We also earn money through Food Lion for purchases made throughout the year through their Classroom Rewards program. Your club card can be registered at foodlion.com to be designated for TRES. A contest will be held in September to register Safeway and Food Lion cards.
    - Register your credit card with eScrip to earn money each time you make a purchase at participating merchants (lists available on escrip.com).
    - Online shopping through the eScrip link on their website will also earn TRES money, no matter what credit card you use.
    - Collect General Mills box tops to hand in during our October and February collection drives. Each box top earns our school 10 cents, and they add up quickly. Prizes will be awarded from the PTA to the top class in each grade, as well as a grand prize for the overall winner. Lots of products have bonus box tops on them right now, and stores are offering special promotions for large bonus coupons (Food Lion, Weis, etc.). Please visit boxtops4education.com for a list of products. This website also has contests throughout the year to win large amounts of bonus box tops for your school (500,000 box tops is the top prize!). Sign up at boxtops4education.com to receive emails about new contests with links to enter.

Volunteers are needed to trim and count the box tops during the two contests. This is a great opportunity for parents who cannot get to the school to volunteer during regular hours.
