Our belief is that it is crucial that the parents, the school and community work together, as a team, to make our school a better place for all children. The TRES PTA hopes to accomplish the following goals during the 2011-2012 school year.

 1. Communicate effectively between families and staff of TRES students. Trying to support the national objective to form a closer relationship between home and the school.

  • Continue to encourage a strong relationship and effective communication between parents/families/community and the school.
  • Utilize Find Out First for announcements related to PTA, activities, volunteering and encouraging parent /family involvement in their childs’ education.
  • Update website regularly- provide link on find out first newsletter that is sent home. Provide more opportunities to sign up for activities electronically on PTA website.
  • Thursday Folders-provide folders to be used by school and PTA.
  • Increase attendance at PTA meetings by combining school functions with general membership meetings
  • Email- collect email addresses from parents at Back to School night and give them option to receive PTA info via email eventually leading to less papers coming home in Thurs folders(Want to go green and use less paper)
  • Start sending forms, announcements, and other related PTA information in electronic format via Find out First, email.
  •  2. Increase volunteers

  • Encourage all volunteers to attend training and receive a new key fob to sign in on our new system. This will help keep record of hours.
  • Improve teacher utilization of volunteers in and out of the classroom.
  • Facilitate a strong relationship between teachers and volunteers through communication and increase the awareness of the importance of confidentiality when working in the classroom setting.
  • Increase participation on committees to assist chairpersons on the PTA.
  •  3. Advocacy and Financial Support

  • The PTA will promote the welfare of children in their home community and school as part of their national objective. We will continue to do fundraising to provide financial support and activities that support education.
  • PTA will do two fundraisers and the ways and Means committee will plan activities throughout the year to help bring in funds.
  • PTA will help advocate for our children on local, county and state issues if needed. Our Frederick county representative will attend meetings keep us updated on county and state issues.
