Wow! I can't believe that this is the final newsletter. This school year has literally flown by. As I reflect back on the past two years, a couple of things come to mind. First, and most importantly, "Thank you" to all of the parents, staff, and community members who have volunteered and supported our children and our programs. I feel extremely fortunate because we have such a caring and giving school community in which to raise our children.

Second, it is with pleasure that I can share with you the two words that I use to describe the relationship between the PTA and the school…. Teamwork and Collaboration. It's been a joy to watch the partnership between the school and PTA grow to such a degree. As I reflect back on the various activities offered to our students and our families, they are true collaborative efforts, reflecting the best that both the PTA and the school can offer. And no matter who is sponsoring a particular event, the other entity is right there to provide support. I remember back to the September 2006 newsletter, when I shared that our PTA goals were based on the belief that it takes an entire school community to educate our children; I'm proud to say that I believe we're on the right track.

As I'm reflecting on the past, I'd like to take a moment to highlight the following PTA members who worked diligently with their committee members and volunteers to offer the following activities and services during the months of May and June:

  • Patti Yammerino and the Family Activities Committee for supplying lots of fun and "goodies" at the Ice Cream Social and the Spring Luau.
  • Ruth Alwardt, Mindy Magden and their Mystery Readers for providing the entertainment at the Ice Cream Social

"Thank you" - Your commitment is truly appreciated!

The planning for the 2000-09 school year has already begun and I encourage you to volunteer. We have a whole new set of officers who have stepped forward to lead the PTA next year ("Thanks" goes out to Hope, Bridget, Mary Ellen, and Sharon). There are many opportunities for you to get involved, including: chair a PTA committee, volunteer at school, assist with the Club Program, respond to calls for help from the school staff, volunteer at Family Activities events, or serve on a committee of interest.

As we wrap up another school year, I am reminded that we teach our children best not with our words, but with our actions. We are so fortunate to have such a dedicated group of parents, teachers, support staff, and community members who operate together and educate our children through the examples that they set daily. It has been my privilege to work with all of you on behalf of our children.

Have a wonderful summer break!
