TRES PTA officers and community chairs have established a great working relationship with Kimberly Seiss, our principal, and the staff at TRES We will strive to make TRES a better place for our students, parents, teachers, staff, and community.
The PTA Executive Board has been working hard establishing goals and plans for the upcoming school year. It is going to be a great year!
The TRES PTA has many important roles and supports our children and school. We accomplish this by:
Our volunteer program/opportunities.
Offering enrichment programs, special events and family activites.
Advocacy-locally, county-wide and state wide.
Effective communication between the school, the county, PTA and parents.
Fundraising and funding programs, and providing resources.
TRES PTA offers many opportunities for parents, grandparents and families to get involved in their child's education and special events. There are many opportunities for you to volunteer, whether it is in your child's classroom, helping with Thursday folders, chaperoning on field trips, helping out with special events or projects at home. The PTA has over 20 committees that need your help. We could not provide the activities, enrichment programs, resources and assistance if it was not for our volunteers. It is a great way to utilize your creativity and talents, and show your child you are interested in their education. We appreciate any amount of time you can give! Thank you volunteers - we could not do it without you!
The PTA offers enrichment programs, family activities and special events for our students. The Enrichment programs are special programs that are provided to our students to enhance their learning and experiences. We offer these programs during the school day, several times a year. Examples of these types of programs: learning about the different kinds of music/instruments, character counts, puppet shows, safety, magic shows, etc. Our students truly enjoy these programs!
The PTA offers Family Activites throughout the year. These events are to provide opportunities for families to get together and enjoy funfilled activities. This year we will have Mommy Muffing/Daddy Donut, Fall Fest, Bingo and Spring Fest. More information will be sent home in the Thursday folders, sent out on Find Out First, and/or posted on the PTA website. We are trying to send most of our forms electronically, so make sure you sign up for Find Out First! PTA also helps support and organize two class parties a year. We hope you can join us for some or all of these activities.
Advocacy is an itegral part of the PTA. Our goal is to work closely with our school, keep the communication door open and express concerns in a fair and professional manner. The TRES PTA will continue working together, toward common goals, with our school to ensure our kids are getting the best experiences and best education. As far as advocacy and county issues, our PTA has Frederick County Representatives that attend Frederick County PTA meetings and keep our local chapter and PTA members informed on what is going on county and state wide.
Communication is probably one of the most important aspects of the PTA. It needs to be consistent in order to be effective. The PTA will send home flyers, information in the Thursday folders, send home important reminders through Find Out First and also post information on our website, www.trespta.org. If you want to sign up for Find Out First, please provide the school with your email address. A PTA newsletter will be send out in the fall, winter and spring. We will continue to work on our environmentally friendly goal and determine ways to cut down on paper forms coming home by doing things electronically.
Fundraising is essential so we can provide funding and support for our school. The PTA will have two fundraisers this year. A Fall and Spring fundraiser. As listed above, the money raised from the fundraisers are put to good use. In addition, we provide additional support and resources to our teachers and school. The PTA is planning on paying for class parties this year instead of collecting money. Please support our fundraisers so we can continue to provide activities for students and support for our school! Thank you so much for your continued financial support.
I encourage you to join the PTA. We have four meetings a year. The meetings start at 6pm, a light dinner is served and babysitting is provided. We often partner up with the school and offer activities, short musical performances or a special speaker on PTA meeting nights. This seems to make it easy on family schedules and encourages families to participate.
If you would like to get involved in the TRES PTA and/or volunteer on a committee, there will be sign up sheets at our first meeting or you can email Mary Ellen Graziano. We need YOU to keep all of these wonderful programs going for our students and school! Thanks for all of your support!
