The PTA Council of Frederick County supports the National and Maryland PTA positions while locally supporting positions on public education, family involvement and safe and nurturing school environments.

Frederick County PTA Council general meetings are typically held on the fourth Monday of the month at Monocacy Middle School from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.. Visit www.frederickpta.org for a list of 2009-2010 meeting dates. The Frederick County PTA Council meetings provide us an opportunity to learn more about the role of PTAs, receive training in every aspect of running a PTA, learn to effectively advocate for our school and students and receive knowledge about the issues affecting students in Frederick County public schools. A meeting report is presented at each TRES executive board meeting and pertinent information is presented to the entire membership at the TRES general membership meetings.

Throughout the school year, the PTA Council of Frederick County sponsors live chats with Superintendent of Frederick County Public Schools, Dr. Linda Burgee. Check back for a listing of those dates and times or refer to the www.frederickpta.org website.

Sometimes advocating for our children means getting involved on the state level and being aware of issues and legislation that affect Frederick County Public schools. The Maryland PTA provides a "Take Action Network". Those interested can go on-line and sign up to receive alerts when your involvement can make a critical difference on the state level. The alerts will provide a detailed description of the proposed legislation, the Md PTA's position and provides you with the links to voice your concerns to our state representatives. Visit mdpta.org, scroll down to Advocacy and click on "PTA Take Action Network" at the bottom of the page.
