The Reflections Program is an Arts Recognition & Achievement Program that was established for students by the National PTA over 40 years ago. The Reflections Program gives students the opportunity to explore their creativity in the fine arts. Students may submit an entry in any or all of the six areas, which include: Literature, Visual Arts, Photography, Musical Composition and Film/Video. The pieces are organized by grade and critiqued against others in the same division (PreK-2 and 3rd-5th). Works chosen will be submitted to the council level of judging. Works chosen from this level go to the state level for judging. This year, MD PTA is honoring it's winners with monetary awards in the categories of: Outstanding Interpretation of Theme, $100; Award of Excellence, $75; and Award of Merit, $50.
Deadlines for pieces to be turned in to TRES will be Friday, October 28. A form will come home in your child's Thursday folder to be filled out and turned in if they are interested in participating. General participation rules and and entry forms will also be available on the website in September. At this time, we are seeking volunteers, as well as judges to assist with this committee. If you have any interests, please sign up in the Media Center during Back to School Night, or send me an email.
